Yoga Therapy

Discover the Power of Yoga Therapy

Yoga Therapy is a highly personalized and holistic approach that adapts the ancient science of yoga to your unique health and wellness needs. Unlike general group yoga classes, which offer broad benefits, yoga therapy focuses on empowering individuals to move towards improved health and well-being by addressing specific challenges and goals.
It views each human being as a multidimensional system – encompassing body, breath, mind (intellect and emotions), and their mutual interaction. This means we don’t just look at symptoms in isolation, but at the interconnectedness of your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. By placing equal emphasis on all aspects of your being, yoga therapy helps you find balance and self-awareness on the mat, which you can then integrate into your daily life.
Yoga therapy is founded on the principle that intelligent, tailored practice can positively influence your health. It’s not a substitute for modern medicine, but a complementary and alternative method that profoundly enhances the healing process across all levels: physical, emotional, and spiritual. It reminds you that you are not defined by a diagnosis, but by your inherent capacity for healing and growth.

How Can Yoga Therapy Help Me?

Yoga therapy is for you if you’re seeking a gentle, progressive, and highly effective path to reduce pain or suffering and cultivate lasting well-being. People are drawn to yoga therapy for many reasons, including:

Chronic Pain & Physical Limitations

If you experience persistent aches, pains (like in your neck or back since 2016), injuries, or are recovering post-surgery, yoga therapy offers targeted practices to improve flexibility, strength, and function while managing discomfort.

Stress Management & Burnout Prevention

When daily stress leads to fatigue, insomnia, headaches, or feeling constantly on edge, yoga therapy provides effective techniques to calm your nervous system, prevent burnout, and cultivate deep resilience.

Mental & Emotional Well-being

If you struggle with depression, anxiety, low mood, lack of focus, or are navigating addiction recovery or trauma, specific yoga and breathing techniques can help regulate emotions, quiet mental chatter, and foster inner peace.

Digestive Harmony

Utilizing specific yoga postures and Ayurvedic principles, we address common issues like bloating, indigestion, and irregularity to promote optimal gut health.

Hormonal Balance

For women navigating the significant shifts of peri-menopause and menopause, tailored practices alleviate symptoms like hot flashes, mood swings, sleep disturbances, and fatigue.

Starting a Practice

If you've been intending to add a daily yoga practice but struggle to know where to begin or feel lost in group classes, yoga therapy provides the personalized guidance you need.

Enhancing Your Current Practice

Even if you're an experienced yogi, an outside, therapeutic perspective can help deepen and refine your practice for greater benefits.

Your Personalized Yoga Therapy Journey

Embarking on yoga therapy means initiating a personalized journey designed specifically for your unique goals and needs. Here’s what you can expect from our process:

01

Initial Consultation (75-90 minutes)

Initial Consultation (75-90 minutes)

We begin with a comprehensive assessment to gain a deep understanding of your current health concerns, lifestyle, breath capacity, physical flexibility and strength, and your wellness aspirations. This is where we discuss your reasons for seeking therapy and your current stage of recovery (if applicable).

02

Review Session (approx. 30 minutes)

Review Session (approx. 30 minutes)

Typically scheduled the following day, this session allows us to review your personalized practice sheet. We can schedule this at your convenience, even early morning if that suits your home practice routine. You'll then begin practicing on your own daily, and I'm here to answer any questions that arise.

03

Weekly Follow-Up Sessions

Weekly Follow-Up Sessions

In subsequent weekly 1:1 sessions, we'll progress your practice along, fine-tuning movements and breathing techniques based on your individual needs and how your body is responding. These sessions help expand your personalized yoga toolbox, giving you practical techniques to use on and off the mat.
While an Introductory Package covers your first 6 weeks of dedicated support (including the initial consultation and five weekly follow-up sessions), a commitment of about 3 months of consistent weekly sessions generally yields the most significant and lasting results for chronic conditions. We are always flexible with schedules and travel arrangements.

Your Questions Answered

Your first session is a comprehensive consultation where we’ll discuss your health history, current symptoms, lifestyle, and wellness goals. We’ll also do a gentle assessment of your movement and breath to understand your unique needs. This helps me create your personalized therapeutic plan.
Unlike a general group class, Yoga Therapy is entirely personalized. It focuses on your specific health challenges, pain points, or wellness goals, with practices tailored precisely for you. A regular class is for a broad audience, while therapy provides individual attention and customized tools for healing.
Absolutely not! Yoga Therapy is designed to meet you exactly where you are, regardless of your experience or flexibility level. We adapt practices to suit your body and abilities, ensuring safety and effectiveness.
Results vary, but many clients report feeling some relief or improvement within the first few sessions. For chronic conditions, consistent practice over 6-12 weeks often leads to more significant and lasting changes.
No, Yoga Therapy is not a replacement for medical treatment. It is a complementary and alternative method that works alongside conventional medicine to enhance your healing process, reduce symptoms, and improve overall well-being. Always consult your doctor for medical conditions.
You’ll typically need a stable internet connection, a device with a camera (like a laptop or tablet), and enough clear space to move comfortably. I might suggest simple props like a yoga mat, chair, or cushion, but we can adapt practices to what you have available.
